Went out last week to talk with the local McIntosh shop regarding my recently acquired 6100. On the way home I stopped at a yard sale. He was cleaning up and I saw a nice looking receiver as I got closer I saw it was a Sansui 7000. Sweet. Then over by the "trash" pile I saw a tt and walked over. Dual 1241 that looked like it was dropped off a building but the arm was locked down and the cartridge looked good. Said I could have it with the Sui. soundt/banana.gif Got the it all home and took a look at the cartridge. It was an Audio Technica 15-XE blink.gif one of their higher end products. Looked at it under a loupe. Did not look good but when I cleaned it all the gunk came off leaving a beautiful stylus (I'll post in the proper forum). Today after waiting for a no-show I decided to go out. First sale I hit they were cleaning up (it was late) and they said take anything. They had a Sony tv that I now realise was in a stand that I turned down because I couldn't fit it all in my car. I would've taken it if I knew the tv came out soundt/doh.gif . Wasted the next few hours talking with some people at the next sale so I just headed home. Stopped by the SA and saw one special was "Stereos — $5.00." Spied a set of Design Acoustics PS-55 marked a ridiculous $32.50. Asked if all things marked stereo were on sale or just things that looked like stereos (vcrs, dvds, cp, etc.) and was told to just get what I wanted. soundt/bluebanana.gif Hooked it all up and turned on the Sui. Shoot! Only one light on the Sui "Phono 1," but then I switched to "FM" and Shazzam everything lit up. There is a repair sticker on the bottom so maybe all the lights were replaced as this is usually a prob with these units and they're a bitch to get and get to. Pots need to be are a little noisy but maybe just using them will clean them up. Has that Sui sound.

I am finding it hard to believe that you stopped at a yard sale. biggrin.gif

Yeah, go figure.

Funny thing is I went to the thrift today and sure enough there was the tv. I was right the first time it is a tall console type — $39.99.

Congrats Hakka (again!). The 7000 is a cap coupled amp which is distinctly different from the Eight and the Eight Deluxe. IMO, these three models represent the pinnacle of Sansui build quality with no cost cutting aparent like in the dreadful G-9700 and later. When not in tuner mode, the dial lamps go out.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I have an Eight somewhere. Obviously some of the labels are missing, same with the Eight. Very clean inside. Sprayed some cleaner and let her run for awhile. Seems to cleared up the controls.
