The auction appears to have been cancelled. I dont know yet if the seller decided to end it on his own, or someone else made him an offer he couldnt refuse. There was not a 'buy it now' option when it was listed.
I did notify someone about this auction who really wanted a B-2301, so its possible he mightve persuaded the seller to end it early and sell it to him. The guy who wanted it (Rick), has been involved in Audio a long time, and has a website:
www.waybackaudio.com
He has been looking for a B-2301 for a long time and he wanted mine, but he preferred a trade rather than paying cash. He has the matching C-2301 preamp which he offered to trade, but I already have one as well that came with the B-2301 when I bought it, so it makes no sense to me to trade away a power amplifier, for two indentical preamps. Even so, if he offered to pay cash, I dont think I would have sold it anyway, unless it REALLY was alot of $$$ being waved under my nose. B-2301's dont come along too often, nor the C-2301 preamp, so I consider myself to be quite fortunate to have obtained mine. The follow-up models
B and C-2302 of the early 90's seem to be even more rare. I recall seeing one, or perhaps it was both of them on Audiogon a while ago, and just as I expected, the
seller was asking big bucks, dont recall the exact price, but something like $6000.
I emailed Rick to ask him about the B-2301 auction, but I havent heard back from him yet.
It's one of those Ebay transactions where the buyer ends the sale early because the item is no longer available for sale.
