I pulled the trigger on a Sansui TU-919 to go with my new AU-919. Paid a pretty penny for it but with separates, I have a (dangerous) tendancy to complete the set. The guys over at fmtunerinfo.com place the TU-919 fourth in their Shootouts, which is a fantastic result. So, I'm set for tuners. (Interestingly, the TU-919 placed just ahead of the awesome and awesomely expensive TU-X1!)

I have one and suggest sending yours to Mike Williams at Punker X, get is aligned and spruced up.

Mine was originally brought up to speed by Stereosurgeons (ken Bernacky) and he did a fair job. But after several years i decided to send the rig over to Mike and give it the complete upgrade... It came back a different unit.... Now its almost the twin of my TU-9900. The 9900 still holds the premier position in my tuner collection of Kenwood 600T & 917 and 919 & 9900.... I urge you change the RCA jacks to gold plate and kill the 300 ohm balun, plus the quartz lock.... Give mike a call and he will explain all!

Thanks Gino! The work you've done to yours is serious stuff and I will consider your suggestions. I used to have a TU-9900 in rough cosmetic condition but working fine. I agree, it is an awesome tuner. Warm sounding and very quiet between stations.

For some reason I usually end up with the tuner first, the amp is sure to follow, come hell or high water!
