a sticky on this thread, anyone?

anyway, just yesterday, (2/21/2009) i found a great wooden cassette rack at a rummage sale. it was loaded with what has to be over fifty vintage TDK D-C90s and 60s, and three wonderful vintage SA-90s. the best thing, however, was running into FIVE late-80's era MAXELL XL-IIS!! one opened, four sealed!! when i inhereted my very first component hi-fi from my ex-father back around 1999/2000, i received a PIONEER CT-980W dual-well and around the same number of sealed same-era XL-IIS. in the interviening half decade, i used them and abused them quite thouroughly. i've regretted that, and have been hoping for a second chance for a while now. so, just yesterday, what do i find? JUST THAT, plus a perfect, elegant way to store and display all my best cassette examples:

please be aware that at present, i have only one each of the 1986 and 1990 TDK MA-XG. the apparent "sealed" 1990 version is actually the carefully removed wrapper of my sole 1990 version, placed over and taped onto an empty TDK case. it will be a placeholder until i obtain an actual sealed example. you may also note the empty spaces that i have reserved for a sealed 1986 MA-XG, as well as sealed/opened examples of the TDK MA-R90...

These are part of what I've picked up in the last ten months or so and haven't put away yet. All sealed and including the cases (Maxell and TDK). There are many more opened unused and used including another TDK MA-R90. Not a collector by any means but just what I've come across since I've started paying attention. Two parts.

Part 2

Most of these came from two estate sales. About $10. I have 10 or so cases of once used Maxell XLII so it' going to be awhile before I get into the unopened ones.

1. Whoa. All those TDKs remind me of the dumb cardboard box I use to store my cassettes. It's the 80's again! LOL

2. Is that a hakata doll next to the TT?? I know a guy with one o' those, and he put a glass cover over it. Gorgeous!

TDK is famous for making tapes.

However, I have a pair of TDK panel speakers.

Thanks for the closeup. I'm making that into my next desktop wallpaper.
I think that's a fine example of Japanese artwork from a bygone era. smile.gif

I have been buying since the prices have went down. I bought at least 60 this week. Not all are collectables at this time. Next week I'm buying 100 UR ferrics. If anyone is looking the prices have went down on ebay. I'm getting them with 1 bids. Or buy now. Will take pics when I get proper storage.
