No good shots but that's ok, no good turntables either! This is what I currently listen to:

And I picked this unusual looking thing at a sale the other day too. It works although I haven't put any vinyl on it yet (maybe after a good cleaning):

I've also collected a JVC (needs belt) and a Technics DD (needs stylus). Might hall all of them into the local shop (6TH Ave. Records in Tacoma, for you locals) and see if I can't swap them all off on one decent setup or at least buy some new bits for the MCS and/or Technics (I like the looks).

So far, this is the best sounding TT I have ever owned.

here's my table, the very last remnant of my original first Hi-Fi system that was handed down to me from my ex-father...

a british made BSR 200BAX from the mid/late 70s. i have done most everything i know how to do to improve it; a new belt, a total relube, replacement of the flimsy lamp cord power cord with a thick, shielded power cable with three ferrite beads slipped around it, a major upgrade of the stereo RCAs, and a set of large peg feet screwed to freshly keyed holes on the bottom. as a result, i've managed to wrest solid performance out of this thing, with blacker than black backgrounds. i could live with it just fine, since i rarely use a TT, but i nevertheless am rather shooting for the moon with the choice PIONEER table i want:

the PIONEER PL-90. since this table is rarer than rare, and as such my chances of ever procuring one are next to nil, does anyone have any recommendations for a solid alternative PIONEER TT?

For what it's worth, this is my pride and joy of the past twenty-five years...

(Thought I'd chuck a 78 on for effect)

"Pride and joy" you say, "look at the state of it!"... yes, I know but it has been in a storeroom for the past four years after it was damaged. Now I am fixing it all up again and giving it a general once-over and soon it will be back to what it was... and CLEAN! Right now, it's sitting on the outdoor dining table which doubles as my workshop while the real workshop is being "modified" to include a jewellery bench for the wife.

It's a Series 1 Thorens TD124 with an SME 3009 tone arm. Yes, that's not the original head shell (I have misplaced the damned thing) so I grabbed a cheap but ok Hitachi shell and popped an Ortofon cartridge in it while I look for the missing SME/Shure. That's my old Luxman L200 sitting behind it as the testing amp and there are a pair of Bose 101's just out of shot.

i have since replaced that BSR with a REALISTIC branded ELAC MIRACORD 46. a solid step up, i have heard:
