I picked up a pair of these today. Sound fantastic, very quick with excellent imaging, maybe going to give my Dahlquists a fight in that arena even. Much bigger sound and bass than the size of these little devils would suggest. Grill cloth is garbage but at least the badges are there. Cabs aren't bad, maybe an 8/10. Drivers look great although the woofer cones show some peculiar looking lines that I suppose I could attribute to previous stress but they still sound very... Snell? Pardon the crappy photos, just snapped these with my phone:

$100 took those home with an extra $20 to hold them until I got there (about an hour drive, one way). Oh yeah, she threw in speaker wire, interconnects, an old Technics turntable with Stanton cart (nothing special), a Teac dual cassette, a Denon DCD-610 single CD player and a Nakamichi RE-1 receiver, all of which works wink.gif

another nice acquisition John, you have a (pardon the pun) good ear for speakers.

Thanks Scott!

I've always loved the sound of good hifi but I spent several years of my young adulthood away from home (I used to drive truck coast to coast) and I guess I'm sort of making up for lost time...

These are the first snell's I've heard and I like them so much I'm really curious to know what the bigger models sound like! Anyone given big snell's a serious listen?

i dont know what model they were, but i listened to a pair of vintage big Snell's several years ago. very good sound from top to bottom, easily rivaled a pair of original Allison I's in the adjoining room.

Wow!

I found some more time to listen a bit this evening. A brass synth line in Olivia Newton John's "With A Little More Love" (listening to the 70's channel on Comcast Music Choice) just rolled through the room like a warm sea breeze. I know it's always been there but I don't think I've ever heard it so distinct, holographic, and separate from the rest of the music.

I really need to listen a LOT more, definitely do some A/B/Cing, but at this moment I think I like these at least as well as any other speaker I've ever owned and would probably sell the rest of my collection to finance a big pair of Snell's, if they sound the way these little titans do!
