HI, I m still looking at preamps, and I'm interested in the Parasound Halo P3. One of the main problem's I have heard about is that it has a noise floor issue. Some people claim to be able to here hiss no matter where the volume is set, or which input is used. My Crown ic-150 is 38 years, and is dead quite on all line level inputs. Does anyone have anything to add to the performance of the P3?

On Parasound gear there is minimal wiring and the signal path is carried on a separate board for each channel, and is based on hand-matched complementary FETs, an electronic design of John Curl for a quarter-century now.
Sorry, but it's hard to believe in such noises coming from Parasound Halo series.

As you may remember John Curl became famous around the world as the designer of the original Mark Levinson JC-2 preamplifier, which at the time—and for a good number of years afterwards—was widely acclaimed for many hi-fi critics as being the best pre-amplifier in the world. What can i say more......................

i own a Parasound DAC and a friend owns a Parasound amp and pre, and we are in agreement Parasound makes quality gear.

I'm not familiar with the Halo you speak of, is there a local dealer you can test it out?

I have no idea. When I lived in Chicago we had many great hi-fi stores. That's a really big problem for me, especially at this price point!

Audio advisor stocks this gear. I think they have a generous returns policy.
