Went to an estate sale today. Saw some albums in the front room and then found these in another. There were a couple quality used tapes also so got my hopes up that there was a system around. Found it in the backyard by the cashier. A cheesy middle of the road 80's Fisher setup. Rats! Oh well, bought the all the TDK for .25ยข.

Bad news is, on the way there I was hit by another car that went through a stop. Since my daily driver is half plastic looks like part of it exploded like a soda bottle. Nothing but bits and pieces in the street. And we weren't going much more than 10 mph. Ironic part is that I took the street I was on to avoid the main boulevard. rolleyes.gif

I'd say the accident doesn't balance the scales for your tape score. Hopefully, the other turd has good insurance and you don't take the hit. Anyways, new in plastic tapes are valuable, just ask the folks over at TH!

glad you made it through without any serious harm Jerome and (i cant believe i'm saying this, but ...) i agree with Sam.

Thanks for the concern guys. Luckily, I was turning so she more or less sideswiped my front end rather than t-bone me. Some of the parts may be hard to find though. I was in the high rent district so all the costs will be taken care of. Over the past ten years it's averaged out to about $60/year (not including tires, oil, etc.) to keep her running and I fill up about every three weeks so I plan on driving her until she melts back into the ground.

Well, here it is over three months later and I finally wrapped this up blink.gif. Agreed to be a nice guy and et her pay out of pocket rather than make an claim. What drama. Took it to her "friend's" shop for a labour estimate and did some research into finding some near impossible parts. Used completed auctions on e$ay with the idea of finding parts locally. Settled on a price just under $800. Then found out the bodyman had no clue and was in disagreement with his adjuster. Another of her shops and another debacle. Finally told her I was going to take it to my shop and she either pays or it was time to make a police report and a claim. New estimate was over $1800 but I didn't notice they were using some "new" parts that I felt were unnecessary. Another visit and we settled on just over $1200. Never met someone with so much drama in her life in such a short time (if she is to be believed), new digs, people dying ... cool.gif . She finally paid off. In the interim I was lucky to happen on a month old ad for the fender some 85 miles away so I made an offer. Seller then made arrangements to meet me closer (a story in itself). When we met I found he brought some extra parts, including the corner light I really needed soundt/bluebanana.gif so for an additional $5 I got all the extra parts for a total of $30 plus gas. There is $600 of parts in the estimate. Time to fire up the spray gun. After it's all said and done I'll end up with about $1,100. Just about pay for all the time I have invested rolleyes.gif .

Yeah, finally. Actually it was better this way even though had I gone to through insurance I would have received more but I have a feeling they would've totaled the car. It's been to good to me to total. Looks like it's going to be awhile before it cools down enough to do any work on it.
