Music is my religion.

how many of your friends understand what you put into music to get the joy out of it. i opened a store just to be able to get joy out of sharing the thrill i get out of good music.

Well, i don't have many friends even though the ones i have love music the way i do. We share some records and some mp3 and we always try to find some new interesting sounds, not only today's sounds but mostly from not so well known records or bands from the past. The last incredible one i found is a record fom '68 band called, The United States Of America ohmy.gif . Kind of experimental rock with a flavour of Beefheart, Zappa and VU, truly a gem. smile.gif

I don't have the "passion" for specific types of music like many of you do, nor do I take the time to "analyze" my system when listening. I do think, however, that music is the most important passive part of my life. I will listen to almost any kind of music (REAL music) at any time, whether I am actively paying attention to it or not.

If I were granted a single wish (other than health and happiness for my family, etc.) I think it would be for a good singing voice. rolleyes.gif

unless i stop and thing about it, i go blissfully through day after day of pretty much taking music for granted. then there are times like today, when i havent had a chance to hear any music on the main rig for several days running and i get to sit back and just listen to my favorite bands for a few hours straight. i appreciate the importance of music much more when i've been deprived of it for a while.

Great post speakerman1.

Good song to start the workday with as well.

After reading the posts, I can't help but think of this on a larger scale. I am curious to know....concerning politicians and school administrations who cut arts in the schools, do they listen to music on a daily basis? Do they have an artistic passion? Do they have a creative outlet?

I work in theater, I deal with the psychological and emotional values of creativity and art on a nearly daily basis.

What would the world be without arts?

The entertainment industry is the number one industry globally. More and more, with expanding access to cable, professional sports are apart of the entertainment industry now. This can't possibly be why sports takes a priority to arts in our schools?

My blissful escapism song is California Guitar Trio's--Bach Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

Here is a sample, but the sound quality is not great.

Just think how blessed we are to be able to enjoy so many different types of music. Thank God for our ears.

Glad to hear that (no pun intended).

They are a fun trio to listen to, and can be pretty eclectic at times.

The Musical Tree

user posted image

Designed by Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu, this sculpture is made of 1000 galvanised pipes that when driven by the wind, act as flutes. This tree produces notes and chords that vary with the intensity and direction of the wind, causing the random music of this sculpture scope kilometres in English landscape.
