Hi itlldue,

Thanks for that input, from what I can see 'tube gear' is used more in the states than it is here in the UK!!

Have looked the b-283 up, interesting concept & not too pricey!!

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies.

Whenever I post a post & I get replies I always 'google' things if you mention a piece of hifi, etc, that way I get a mental picture & if need be I can print the article off for future reference.

I had looked at the KT66 monoblocks & I already knew that they were like 'rocking horse s..t, but thanks bolly, you have the same sense of humour as me, nice one!

Clint e, can I please ask what you mean by 'push pull valves' please & could you look at these aswell, please.

.......

PS Forgot to ask, when I was on Ebay there were a LOTS of tube stuff for sale from China, is this worth looking at, I know clint e has a 'chinese clone', but I'm not 'street wise' yet re valve gear, just a thought though!!

Push Pull and Single Ended are different audio electronic designs used in valve amp technology.
Imo, and in simple terms PP have less details and microdynamics at low volume than SE. Some of this lies due to the fact that single ended amps usually have a lower signal path component count and hence less signal degradation, less power supply intermodulations and such to due the fact there are usually less power supply stages.
The valve aficionados mainstream goes towards SE even though there are many PP with great sonics and it has a lot more to do with the output transformer than the amplifier electronic design Itself.

One more thing. The right speakers for a tube amp are not the same for a solid state, in fact valve amplifiers ( contrary to SS amps which work in voltage driver) naturally function in quasi current-drive hence power is directly proportional to speaker impedance, therefore power increases as the speaker impedance rises.

My advice is. Choose a hi-fi shop near you and listen to some amps/speakers before you buy. Choose wisely. smile.gif

About the Chinese "clones", as i'd posted before is imho a cheap way to start enjoying the sweet sound of valves.

I have all chinese tube gear. I have no problem with it. The site I listed sells 220 volt Yaqin. Rather cheap for tube gear. Mine look like Yaqin.
