what is mc, or mm on the cartridge, my question is, how do you know what setting it goes on? i have an audio-technica AT 160ML cartridge, but nowhere in the directions did it say what my pre-amp switch should be set at,

it has a high output value of 5 mV, the switch on the pre-amp has this 47k "dont have the symbol for upsidown horseshoe" 220pF so it might look like this 47K^220pF, 47k^330pF, what are these and which choice do I use, there are more but didnt want to try to put them down here.

MC is moving coil, and MM is moving magnet, being moving magnet it would most likely be the 47k 220pf. the 47k is the output and the 220pf is the capacitance,

The AT160ml is a well respected cartridge, originally around $400, enjoy!

thanks for the input, i bought 2 of those cartridges back in 80's when I was in the service for 61.95 each. thanks again for the expanation,

with all the recievers I have owned over the years none of that stuff was even considered, like microsoft, just plug and play.

I will say this, my albums have never sounded better.
