I've inherited a Goldring 1.2 turntable with the Goldring Elektra cartridge installed. Apparently it's a re-branded Rega P1/P2. It comes with an mdf platter. Is a glass platter an upgrade, or for that matter a platter of any other material?

I would think that glass would resonate and not be a good material to use, but what do I know. If you are wanting that type of look possibly some UHMW, this can be any color.

I did a brief search and find that on some forums it is considered an upgrade (P3), be aware that acrylic platters are also availible as upgrades.
