Two ways to make this- traditional sandwich, called the Velvet elvis at the former Deli Haus, and my modified way I used to share with a tall radheaded waitress I befriended from there....
Traditional-
Lightly butter up two sides of white bread.
Mash up a banana or two into a pulpy spread.
Spread peanut butter on each, slice, with a layer of the Banana mash in the middle.
Fry it up as if you were cooking a grilled cheese.
Enjoy.
My way-
Lightly butter up two sides of white bread or sour dough bread (light rye will work in a pinch, too).
Slice up a banana or two into wafer-thin slices.
Spread peanut butter on each, slice, with a layer of the Banana slices in the middle.
Fry up a few slices of bacon- I prefer medium/chewy, but crispy is fine, too.
Stuff these in the middle of the sandwich.
Fry it up as if you were cooking a grilled cheese.
Enjoy.
For the ultra original Deli Haus of Kenmore experience, wash it down with a Guinness float- recipe elsewhere.
sounds good. except i'd leave out the butter and the bananas, and just have a peanutbutter smamish.

Okay, no butter or bananas, but how about the bacon?
Wasnt that concoction the reason for his growth spurt?
