I'm really eager to hear your impressions- gonna be great!!!

dingus- 09-11-2007
me too, but i'm not quite sure what to expect, should be good though.

Congratulations Scott!

Is the WT-3200 a transport only? We do expect lots of pics, and of course some nudies.

dingus- 09-11-2007
yes, dedicated transport. i'll have pics up when it arrives.

Have you got the Wadia yet?

dingus- 09-22-2007
yes,
currently in a state of flux. i probably should have waited until after i received it (and thereby able to read the manual) until i settled on a choice of cable. http://www.sound-thinking.org/index.php?sh...indpost&p=40656.

the Wireworld cable is in transit back to The Cable Company and i am awaiting the Stereovox XV2 coax. this one is interesting because its supposed to be a true 75ohm cable with BNC termination. it comes with RCA screw on adapters at each end, which is handy since the Wadia coax output is BNC and my EAD dac coax input is RCA.

for now i'm using my original botl toslink. even with no improvement in sound, at least the Wadia reads cdr's flawlessly, unlike the Kenwood which doesnt read them at all.

So for best performance you need something like the Audioquest OptiLink Pro 2 at $350.

Mark B- 09-22-2007
This looks interesting: timbercon simplex optcal cable

dingus- 09-22-2007
possibly, but i didnt want to spend that much. i went with the Stereovox because of the recommendation from the guys at The Cable Company and because of the BNC/RCA termination.

That's understandable. I hope the Stereovox gets you the performance the Wadia should be capable of delivering.

dingus- 09-22-2007
yeah, me too, it would be a wasted effort otherwise.

Yes it's too early to pass judgement. Digital cables can make all the difference in the world. It's a strange thing to say, since all the data is still in binary form, for some reason digital cables will sound different. I have heard explanations about internal reflections, but I am not sure how much this comes into play, or what other things are occuring inside the cable. But I do know this, the digital cables I have tried all have thier own influence on the sound. For a few months I had an Audio Magic Carvoint Special Edition in my system. 2K for a digital cable, but it sounded incredible! Far outclassed even my current cable which is the Audio Magic Illusions 4D. So hang tight, and keep an open mind. You may find that you will go through a couple of contenders until you find the right one.

if i find the Stereovox to my liking, i think the only other cable i would consider is the ST glass fiber, as long as i can find it for cheap.

There are several other cables that have alot to offer. Zu has built a solid line, and their digital cable is worth investigating.

Kimber now produced the Illumanati design, I think its called The Orchid(not sure). And that cable has always been considered a fine performer.

One thing I have done tht is use multiple digital cables in my set up. I have one that is hi-rez and used with good recordings. Then I have a second that is laid back and smooth, which I use with those discs that are mixed hot. This will only work if the DAC and transport have multiple outputs. Unfortunately my transport has only one digital output, so I was using both the JVC and Squeezebox as sources for the DAC. The SB had the smooth sounding cable on it. But I recently sent the cable off to a friend, and plan on having the SB modified by the Bolder Cable company.

Oh wait, if I remember JPS builds a nice digital interconnect also.
