This Wadia subject is in many aspects very intriguing... This week i was talking with a friend of mine - who works in an audio store in Sevilla - about audio stuff and i mention the Wadia, and he says that the clock is vital importance in playback performance as is the data, and he mention that Wadia customers realized the vital importance of a high performance clock cable more than 10 years ago... ohmy.gif so i asked him what kind of digital cable he advises for Wadia and he mention the the Aural Synphonics Optimism emm.

Hey Scott, you are now entering in another ( incredible) audio universe...be prepared... wink.gif

Wow, $3000 for that cable! IMO the law of diminishing returns would be reached well before that price could be justified in my system.

You're right Mark.
How can someone pays that kind of money for a cable... soundt/confused-smiley-013.gif
I have think about it and maybe the kind of people who have a lot of money and taste. They are not less "audiophiles" than you or me just because they have lots of cash...

I didn't say that. I was referring to what I would spend on cables in my system.

worst-case scenario, Scott walks away with a well-built and performance-minded transport, that may sound only the tiniest bit improved, but with good fortune will remain durable and appear in the system as stately and elegant.

Best scenario, a cable swap will up the ante, and performance will increase noticeably.

Piece of mind should be reassuring in knowing this transport was part of the -*test*-('") bench for well-regarded audio magazines, at the very least.

the -*test*-('") will be to see how the Wadia sounds when compared to the Kenwood, with both using the new Stereovox cable. if there is still no difference between the players, i'll have to evaluate whether or not to keep the new cable and pair it with the Kenwood. i dont see any sense in keeping the Wadia unless its a step up, especially when i can get my money out of it and finance an improvement in amplification.

You're a gentleman Alvaro.

I think the wording I used was pretty biased sounding. I honestly didn't intend for it to be taken that way.

Hey Scott, any news about the digital cable?

dingus- 09-27-2007
nothing yet, expecting it soon. wont know if it came today until i get home tomorrow.

there was a unexpected and very pleasant development the other day (its good to have friends!), but i'll wait on that until i have everything in place.

Okay, you've left us hanging long enough....

What's going on? How's the new addition playing with the rest of the family?

Elroy- 10-09-2007
he tells me at work, and I am not going to say what he tells me cause I rarely listen to him anyway. Its not like he is taking 15 credits this semester, oh well then he should be used to writing.

well ...

as you can see, the Wadia hasnt made it into my sig .... yet. even though i'm listening to it exclusively, the Wadia still hasnt proven that its able to displace the Kenwood on a permanent basis. there is one more factor that i need to evaluate, but it hasnt arrived yet, so the jury is still out until i can do another head-to-head between the two players with all the pieces in place. i would expect a final conclusion within a week. in the mean time i am enjoying the Wadia quite alot.

clint e.- 10-09-2007
Just for curiosity, what kind/brand of digital cables did you tried so far ?

dingus- 10-09-2007
Stereovox XV2 coax and a basic $12 toslink cable i've had for a year.
