Having fun at Mark's place, hem? I hope you guys had (have) a very nice weekend and please be careful with the Yamahas, don't drink to much. soundt/action-smiley-035.gif

looks like fun!! i myself will be going up there in a couple weeks, to take my PD-3000 CDP in to AUDIO SPECIALTIES, LTD. Mark was so kind as to invite me over after i drop it off. i've been dying to try out that CDX-10000 CDP, and i've put together a a special compilation CD for the event:

oh yes, and i spent much of yesterday lubing up the DENON DCD-910 CDP that i got for the living room system. to be emberassingly honest, it took most of that time to get it back in working order. i had to pull the transport assembly to get underneath to lube. now, when i found this player, the laser was just about shot, so i had to replace the transport with a nearly identical one out of a 1990 model DENON i lad lying around. a couple of the wiring harnesses are colored differently, but is otherwise identical. anyway, i finally got it figured out after an hour or two. this time i took a macro of the connections, so this'll never happen again...

Wow! There sure is a lot of nice equipment there.

Which Yamaha amp is that on the rack in the back right?

I hope the speaker stands had already been consumed or where in the process of being consumed.

I considered posting a very large picture of a bottle of Vodka from several different angles and various levels of content, but I refrained. biggrin.gif

The amp on the top shelf of the rack is a Yamaha PC5002M.

The speaker stands were empties... all drinking was done responsibly

Those are my Yamaha NS-1000x's. One of the carbon fiber woofers was damaged during shipping (magnet separated from the basket assembly) and is awaiting repair which I'm planning to do myself. I got a pair of standard NS-1000 woofers to use in the interim.

If you look closely, there is a cdp, that has my name on it. sorry bout talking you down a buck, mark. I am hoping that dingus brings it in to work today so I can take it home tomorrow.

dingus said you guys did a little comparison with your giant yammi cdp 10000. am interested in what you guys think the differences in sound quality.

Yes, Elroy's new Yamaha CDX-2020 is sitting on an Infinity Modulus subwoofer in the center of the picture. Sitting on top of the CDX-2020 is a Yamaha MX-D1 Class D amp & a Yamaha YPC-1 passive attenuator.

We did some AB'ing using an original version of a Midnight Oil recording in the CDX-10000 and a remastered version of the same recording in the CDX-2020. We switched between the two CD players to see which version of the recording sounded better, and the remastered version playing in the CDX-2020 was clearly better than the original playing in the CDX-10000. We then swapped recordings, with the remastered version in the CDX-10000 and the original in the CDX-2020. The result was that the remastered version playing in the CDX-10000 sounded better than the original version playing in the CDX-2020. We both agreed that the CDX-2020 sounded excellent. Whatever differences there are between the CDX-10000 and the CDX-2020 are subtle.

No problem about the buck Elroy. Before Dingus left I simply removed a $1.00 diode from the laser block control circuit to make us even. wink.gif
