The Chéhadé Brothers - Bridge Over the Mediterranean

Yet another borrowed album. One look at their crazy beards and I couldn't resist giving this music a listen. Of course, the fact that the description mentioned a blending of middle eastern sounds with a Balkan influence (two regions that I'm particularly fond of the musical styles therein) made it an easier choice to give this a spin. Must say, not bad so far, nice sound with a sprinkling of humor.

Amal Murkus - Amal

Figured that I might as well follow one Palestinian album with another. Amal's a pretty good singer with song topics that might be a bit too politically driven for most folks' tastes, but the vocals overcome that, imo. Besides, when others learn that Amal is an unusual mix, Christian Communist from Palestine, it tends to fetch a raised brow.

David Sanchez ~ Coral on SACD

Los Lonely Boys, self-titled.

a pretty good first effort. guitars are heavily influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughn, but not overly done. they'll be fine if they move more towards their own style in the future. production wise it's almost too slick, too polished. other than that, the mix is done very very well, excellent sound here.

these guys are obviously quite accomplished. if the production gets out of their way and just lets them do their thing, they could be outstanding.
