I understand what you mean... but, this is a very especial album, a chill-out-down-tempo with an electronic ambiance flavor.
The strings arragments are from Craig Armstrong and the record is pruduced by one of the masters of electronica - William Orbit.
If you don't know this record give it a try...

Thievery Corporation - The Cosmic Game

Just finished it up. Interesting phase effects, on most tracks the instruments are put slightly out of phase with one another creating an immersive effect. On the album's title track, all of the upper frequencies are set out of phase left-right leaving only the bass beat when I engage the receiver's mono button. Kind of bugged me on that track as I rather dislike the effect of having the instruments sitting in my ear.

Hmm, now what to play...
