Today I had time to catch up a bit on a series of podcasts I recently discovered called "GrooveTek". It's mostly electronica or variations fitting that genre or what I could tag with words like "chill", "deep house", "progressive trance" and "down tempo", styles of music that I listen to quite a bit and even hope to produce one day smile.gif

The highlight of my listening so far has probably been the first track from podcast #3: United Trance Nations, "Qubism D Final" by Mike Vandee, a DJ from the Netherlands (about 1:30 into the podcast). Nice beats without being high energy rave music or anything.

Last CD I bought and listened to was probably the excellent Endtroducing by DJ Shadow.

DJ Russ Jones and Felix B - Gypsy Beats and Balkan Bangers

Gypsy electronica? Fanfare Ciocarlia meets Basement Jaxx, it's a combination impossible not to love. Hate to give this disc back to the owner, though, so I'm gonna have to try to find it somewhere.

I hate to do it but I have to plug my favorite new podcast again!

Tonight, while I was messing with my Infinity WTLCs (see the speaker forum) I had on GrooveTek's podcast #4, "A Tribute to Massive Attack".

http://groovetek.net/2005_11_01_gtekshownotes_archive.html

I'm very much into Trip-Hop, Techno, and the like but I've never really given much of a listen to Massive Attack until tonight. This podcast is a real eye-opener, especially the spectral female vocals on tracks #1 and #2, "Downlow" and "Sunday Bed". Very "chill" sounding, perfect for quiet comtemplation of vintage electronics wink.gif

If you like electronica even the sligh-*test*-('") bit, if "Massive Attack" is one of those groups you've thought about checking out but never got around to, this podcast is for YOU:

Badi Assad - Rhythms

Once again Chesky demonstrates their excellent abilities in making very high quality recordings of boring, passionless music played in a highly reverberant environment. Good elevator and clothing store background music, but not for listening.

Need to find something with passion to spin, not just technical skill.
