Hey all, I remember somebody here posting pics of a Sansui CA-2000 teardown and cleanup; that was nice and I meant to comment at the time, sorry.... Anyway, I can't seem to rustle it up with the search engine. Seems like thedelihaus is the only member that mentions the unit, his. Was it you that posted them pics, thedelihaus? I need to get into a new to me CA-2000...#3... got scratchy balance and speaker mode switches, I think are accessible through the bottom plate... that's where the fuses are on the BA-2000, FYI.
Anyway, good to see y'all again and hope someone will remember, Thanks.
Hey dingus, thanks! Hoping you and everyone are doing fine.

Hey Matt,
Having problems with the CA?
The pots and switched indeed like to get mucked up.
Mine's been working great except I should re-visit the phono selector switches on the side panel.
PS- it's my favorite vintage pre-amp. I somewhat recently added a CA-2000 to it, that had been gone over and had some Nichicon and Black Gates caps added to it....

Hi Thed, Thanks for responding. No big problems, just scratchy balance pot and speaker mode selector switch. Figured I'd take the plunge and clean her up.
Yes, I'm partial to this unit, also...never compared to another, personally, just pics and specs. Bought my first CA/BA-2000 combo new in '78 and haven't found a reason to change at this stage of the game! Echo refurbished/modified a pair for me, won't get into technicalities, but they sound great!
Thanks again, and thanks for the pictures.
Matt

The CA-2000 is an excellent preamp. Its not quite as elegant as its slightly older 'brother', the CA-3000 with its meters and claret red cover, but the CA-2000 does have a better volume control knob, and its a good buy in that they are more affordable than the average price of what a CA-3000 would sell for. The CA-2000 is a perfect match for the BA-2000. Basically it appears to be the preamp version of the AU-11000/9900 integrated amplifiers. Having 2 outputs to connect to a 2nd separate amp is a great feature.
Other notable Sansui integrateds: the unique slim rack mount designed, CA-F1 (to match with the superb BA-F1 power amp, which is basically a deluxe AU-919), and then in the 1980's, Sansui made the awesome ultra-audiophile C-2301 preamp (partner to the great 300 Watt, B-2301), and continuing on in the 1990's, the C-2302 and B-2302.

Hey Fred,
Good to hear from you.
The CA-2000 BA-2000 is sounding great, paired with a TU-5900 tuner, and have been swapping various DAC/CDPs and TTs in and out.
Currently the BA-2000 brute is powering some humble NHT SuperOnes. Bass with this setup is very satisfying for such a small speaker.
I think some NHT 1.5s could be a better match for the top end for a touch more definition. Otherwise, very sweet!
