I haven't been able to get the top off of the MX-10000, so nudies of that will have to wait.

Mark,

Most Land-Rovers, up to untill quite recently, had aluminium body works. They might have some advice on how to repair and fill that faceplate of yours.

If you're going to spray a metallic paint to closely match the color of the metal, the metal-filled bondo should work fine. a minor amount of scoring should take care of grip, then the hit with the paint.

I've just been drooling over the pics at that site I linked and it looks to me like the center top panel slides out, backwards, with the screws on the backplate removed. Does it look to you like that could work to get a peak inside?

Jorge, I'm sure a sledge hammer would work, but that will be the last resort (well actually dynomite is the last resort).

I'll try gentler methods first. biggrin.gif

That's a good looking setup, but I'd almost be afraid of the table not being able to withstand that much weight for long. It's also probably the best electronics a set of Bose speakers have ever been hooked up to.

I'm curious, why use the C-80 as the pre-amp instead of the CX-10000?

- JP

Post scriptum: Might I recommend a crowbar in place of the sledge hammer?

cubdog- 02-25-2007
Congratulations Mark. Good luck with the repair. That piece deserves to be fixed up.

Congrats. user posted image
Concerning the front panel, in Clint's DIY Links guide biggrin.gif maybe you'll find something you need, for example this link :
Front Panels Made to Order

...and this : On-Line Metals

Have fun. wink.gif

The table has been relieved. biggrin.gif I ran the MX-10000 & CDX-10000 with the CX-10000 for many hours, and I wanted to hear how the C-80 sounded with them.

But no more Bose for them, they're now set up in my main system driving the Energy Veritas 2.4i's.

Those pictures really give a sense of scale; the '10000s make the rest look like minisystem components.

We're all hoping and waiting for a big write up on the sound of the complete system, so I won't ask that just yet. However, what are your impressions of the C-80 in the system? Was it able to do alright compared to the reference components or was it just a laughable combination?

The most important question I can think of now that surely others are wondering about...is the A$$A Portland meet going to be graced by the presence of these "Yamaha holy grails"?

Mark,

You must upgrade your systems description over at "Members Systems".

As soon as you can let us know also how your Krell pre-amp fares against your new beauty.

IMO you need a bigger TT now. Your Dual CS-5000 can hardly be seen now. biggrin.gif
