I picked up a pair of NS-200M's this afternoon off my CL for $75. One tweeter was blown, which I replaced from my stash. I used to have three pairs but I sold them in favor of the NS-1000M so I'm glad to have the 200 back in the house. The 200 features a ten inch cast basket woofer with Titanium mid and tweeter. The cabs are heavy, well braced, and sealed. The controls are attenuators and not the crappy EQ type found in drug store speakers.

The 200 has the same family accuracy as the 1000 but trades some sizzle for smoothness. I've always found the 200 to have excellent pace and rythem especially when mated to my favorite integrated, the AU-717. Sadly, my last 717 went out the door a few weeks ago so I'll have to find another one. This time, the 200 is going to stay in the house!

I've been looking for a deal like that on some nice Yamahas for awhile but with no luck. I picked up a pair of towers (don't remember the model off hand) that have woofers in need of foaming, for $20, but they aren't near as pretty as yours.

The Yamaha NS-M series are all good as are the NS-6xx and MS-8xx series, some of which have preferable cloth surrounds. All of them are sealed cabinets. The later ported stuff is not as finely resolved.

Thanks! I took apart the blown tweeter. The coil was fried beyond belief. It was burned and melted. It must take a lot of heat to melt copper.

In terms of electrical current to generate? Yup. Chances are whoever did that lost some output trannys or Darlingtons at the same time.

The seller demo'ed on a crappy HT receiver so I bet he clipped the heck out of them.

The right one looks fine. The left one will need some touch up which will be easy. Corners are good and there is no missing veneer. Sure, a little work on my end but nothing I can't handle.
