About the tubes, Ian Grant have already give you some ideas of what might be or not, in the other Yaqin topic. I concur with him.

Concerning Yaqin polyprop caps, mine have this Metallized Film Capacitor - MEX(X2) Type with 1,0uF / 280V in the outputs ( the big ones ) and the same caps with 0,33uF / 280V in the inputs.
They have also X2 certification - the reason i won't changed them - with these symbols :

They are not line filters. They are filtering RF interferences, mostly.

I remember Philips and also Epcos made them in color blue.

Nice. soundt/thumbup.gif
I'm a big fan of ELNA caps. One of the most smooth caps there i know of.
I have done the same in my Super T-Amp plus Nichicon Muse and i'm very, very pleased with that.
Enjoy. smile.gif

Hi everyone! I'm new here, and just wanted to say hello.

After considering the many options to enhance my redbook cd playback, I just ordered the following...

From, The Pacific Valve & Electric Company...

Yaqin Vacuum Tube Buffer
Jan Phillips 6922 Tube
JJ Tesla 6922/E88CC Tube

&

From, Blue Jeans Cable...

2 foot BJC LC-1 Stereo Audio Cables, with techflex
1 foot BJC LC-1 Stereo Audio Cables, with techflex
(2) 8 foot Belden 5T00UP Speaker Cable w/Bananas to Bananas Terminations

Total: $369.93

My system is as follows..

Sony DA3100ES Receiver
Oppo DV-980H Universal Player
Fronts: Paradigm Monitor 7s
Center & Rears: Mirage Omnisats
Sub: Mirage Omni 10 - w/200watt amplifier
Sony KDS-60A3000

I'll let everyone my thoughts after everything arrives. Overall; I am quite happy with the sound of the Oppo. But, like many; after hanging around music forums, and talking with folks; I decided I might want to get a better redbook CD player. Then; I discovered that there are companies that actually mod the Oppo (and other brands). I thought about that. And, you could spend $1000 or more in just doing that. I also considered an outboard DAC. I've heard good things about how those can enhance the sound. And, I was considering spending over $500 on just a redbook player. My head was spinning! After more reading, the idea of a tube CD player entered into it. I found Pacific Valve, and looked around over there.

In my research, I found out about tube buffers. I did a bit more reading. And, it began to make sense that this could be a good option, as well.

So; I pulled the trigger yesterday. Also; I decided it was time for new speaker wire. So; I ordered that too. biggrin.gif

Very nice setup GKH.
The Yaqin is a very good tube buffer and i'm sure it will be an upgrade; if you have consider buying a new cd source, i was recently in Lisbon's Audio Show and i was completly thrilled with the Cambridge Audio Azur 640c V2.0. Just a thought... smile.gif and for 400€.... ohmy.gif
