Would like to experience some of the "Tube" magic I hear so much about, but I'm on a REALLY tight budget. I have some SS stuff I could use as an amp, if I find a pre. Totally newbie at tubes, so something that was a "Project, needing work" would probably not be the best thing for me, so I don't hurt myself! If any one has something suitable, and affordable, get in touch. Trades welcome as well... smile.gif

'dog, keep your eye out for those console pieces- or remember those big box speakers with the record player on the top- they may have tubes in them. If it's a beat-up console piece, you could always pull the amp from it, and build a stand- many folk have already done this...

If you don't mind mono, I have this amp up for sale. If you want stereo, Kelly (Superfly) has my old Fisher Promenade (tube pre and 6BQ5 stereo amp) that I believe he's lost interest in and might want to just move on out.

Sorry I was slow to reply, guys! I'm a "Tube Newb" and on a very short fiscal leash! As I've been looking around the past couple of days at tube gear, I started to realize that it was expensive stuff, generally speaking! So, as far as my budget goes, I may be out of my league jumping into tubes at this point. I have some gear to trade, but cash is limited, as I'm out of work for good now, and going through the process of applying for disability. So I appreciate you all thinking of me, and if anyone has an affordable beater they may want to strike up some kind of a deal on, I would love to get a foot in the world of tubes. Doesn't have to be pretty, just needs to be working, since I know less about tubes than I do SS stuff! I'm gonna keep an eye out, and check out the stuff you guys suggest, and hope I find something that fits the budget! Thanks Guys! soundt/action-smiley-035.gif

You can find nice working tube amps (integrated or power) for under $250. Is that too much $$?

Unfortunately yes, that's a bit rich right now, I guess I'll have to keep hunting for an old console or something I can scavenge. Till I get some $$$$ coming in from disability, I gotta lay of the big purchases. Thanks for all your help and suggestions, when things pick up on my end I'll repost, and see if I can make a deal then... THANKS!
