Pick My Dinner!

Where I'm staying, I'm not really wanted to use the stove- the kitchen is viewed at as someone else's personal space, and I'm not too welcome in it. My apartment stove is not on at the breaker box, and I can't get to it either. Too bad, as I can possibly cook circles around the stove owner (not saying much as I'm purely amateur). I've been living off microwaveable and cold or dry ready-to-eat foods for a loooong time now, with an occasional rare chance to use the stove. mad.gif

This person is also afraid of fire, so my outdoor grill keeps getting moved away from my accessability. This from someone who leaves candles burning as they drift off to sleep. dry.gif

I'm not getting out much lately, due to some complications w/ my health, and any day the cold New England winter will hit, and that's it for me- I'll be a forced shut-in. Stir-crazy , cabin fever, I'll have it all.wacko.gif

Thank lordy I've got two Dahlquists to take care of me. soundt/banana.gif

Last night it was pretzels, a box of JuJuBees, a microwaved hot dog and can of Chicken Noodle soup.

Ugh. sad.gif

tonight, I was facing a grim dinner again- Cheez-Its, Ring-Dings and balogner and orange cheese sandwiches. Oh no! ohmy.gif

But a friend is in town. We're going to The Main Street Grill, a joint that may appear to be a roadhouse/sportsbar at best from the outside, but actually has a great class-act menu. A friend is in town. Looking forward to a night out! And a nice meal that doesn't come from a can, a cellophane wrapper, a box, a bag, or a tube. soundt/action-smiley-035.gif

Anyone want to help me pick out my dinner?

I'm leaning towards the proscuito chicken, steak tips, or the Black Angus grilled NY steak. They also have specials nightly- sometimes it's a thick prime rib (last time they had it, it was at least an inch and a half thick), and they have the best sirloin steak I've had, including in the city- where the food quality is more than 99.9% better than the suburbs, where I'm at now.

Menu (not including the nightly specials)-

Good looking menu Paul. Your leanings sound good as does the San Antonio Chicken Parm. Have a great time whatever you decide.

the PROSCUITO CHICKEN does look good Paul, but I think I'd prefer the SAN ANTONIO CHICKEN PARM, that, or the GRILLED N.Y. STEAK(cooked medium, of course). soundt/afro.gif

BTW Paul, what's wrong with your own stove or panel box?

Bolly,

I think a relative is shutting off the breaker on me. laugh.gif I've gotta laugh!!!

Ill be cooking in a few months, until then, I'm loving the microwave. And if I'm a real good buy, I can even use the toaster, sometimes!!!

I may go for that chicken parm...

Oh, and I like my steak either medium rare, or raw, like my Rock & roll!!! Steak tartare, ostrich tartare, or sushi... some of my favorite dishes.

I don't recommend raw pork or fish though...

Paul, find yourself one of those small toaster-ovens at a thrift! You have to obviously cook in small portions, but they work like a charm. (hotdogs never tasted soooo good!) All kidding aside, and the hotdog does turn out great BTW, but you can cook just about anything in one, highly recommend! soundt/action-smiley-035.gif

Got one- just not allowed to use it unless "supervised"... Keeps getting unplugged, and i can't reach the plug to put it back in, or it gets put in a tough to reach place!

Bolly, what I need to do is get my apartment finished, move into it, and nail the door shut!!! laugh.gif

Then I'll envite you over for a nice dinner. Just be sure to bring the Braun 830s!!!

By the way, didja see the IMFs I posted in the Classifieds section?

Oops- looks like you did!

Paul,

What went wrong?

You were supposed to have moved into your own apartment by Christmas, right?

Jorge,

A bunch of "stuff" was stored in my place, some "reconstruction" done, and a few things disconnected- water/flush, stove, some wiring outlets.

I've got friends to help here and there, and will get it done, just not as quick, or easy as I planned.

The stored junk was moved out a few days ago and put back where it belongs- I've not heard it directly, but there's been a lot of talk under the breath of some folk here, and some hearty grumbling! laugh.gif

Ahh, I'll get an hour or so outta my friend, and we'll have some dinner, so all is good!
