Looking for a GOOD recipe, like you get with Chinese food in a restaurant. The opaque , slightly thick stuff. Not the crapola off the internet.

I wish I knew of a good recipe, but you're right, those on the internet are nothing like that found in the restaurants. That most call for corn starch as the thickener means that they're doomed from the start.

Until someone recommends a good recipe, I have found one brand that is like that found in the restaurants (most grocery store brands are different too). That is Sun Luck Restaurant Style Sweet & Sour Sauce. It's a Seattle based outfit, but I think they have national distribution. I've been happy since finding it and have ceased to try making my own.

It's basically a plum base, correct?
