Does anyone here own this amp? The guy must be building them strictly out of love. For $600.00 you get a great looking amp, point to point wiring, superb craftmanship, and top quality parts. A steal! I just ordered one. Each one is built to order. This will be my first tube product. Check it out........http://www.wooaudio.com/products/wa6.html

That could be, for orders of 1.000 units minimum, somewhere in China. biggrin.gif

As Clint put it, a "Steal" is a very subjective thing. $20K for a Thorens Reference TT would be a steal to me, even tough I would never be able to afford it, but $600 for that headphone amp certainly doesn´t look like that much of a steal to me. soundt/confused-smiley-013.gif

Just my opinion. wink.gif

Considering that the amp is hand built point to point wired, high quality parts, and superb fit and finish is worth it to me. I just went the China route and bought a VAl E10. What a disappointment that amp was. Aside from a very anemic sound the amp would heat up after an hour of playing, and emit a loud buzz out of both channels like there was a cold solder joint, or bad trace on a board. I went through murder trying to get my money back. I have heard other people's nightmare stories about various other amps from China. I feel the extra money spent on this is worth it if you can avoid the aggravations I went through. It's just not worth saving a few bucks for. If this amp ever does need service I just send it New York. I feel this kind of quality is well worth the cost.

So where do you think the Wooaudio headphone and amps are made ?
In NY ? Your joking, right...?!
Of course they are made in China! ...and BTW very well made, but sorry mate, IMO not worthing 600 dollars. dry.gif
I have a friend that have some amps made in Hong Kong ( China is too big, and Hong Kong has an heritage of British tradition and manufacturing that you don't find in other parts of China) and they are beautiful handmade aswell. rolleyes.gif
About the hummin', coulb be a faulty tube...?! or - the main reason imo - troubles with the ground wires.
Only in one amp he had hum problems, and he's made some mods in the caps and gounded the chassis and other parts and that's it, a beautiful sound without no hum, like the pics shows wink.gif

Sorry my friend but the Woo is made in New York. Read the back panel. Talk to Jack the guy who builds them. I'd like to know where you get your info. To me that makes it worth the $575.00!

Caught me off guard there, too, pal. rolleyes.gif

Hearing the name "Woo", I assumed (ASS - yoU - ME) that it was an import without looking at the site. sad.gif

Although I know little about tube stuff, it looks quite impressive. soundt/action-smiley-035.gif

Clint, I really don't understand what your trying to prove here, but I'm sure the reason that the Woo 3 in your image does not say where it was manufactured is probably because it was a prototype or something. Here are photo's of some of his other amps that clearly states where they are manufactured! I'm sorry, but your wrong. I will find out though and post as soon as I have definative proof.

Hey Tony,
don't get me wrong about what a said concerning WooAudio. wink.gif
Of course i'm fully ware of the quality of Woo produts. Even though, i think imo that the price is too high compared to other well craft equipments from China, Italy or even Britain - Musical Fidelity is a good example.
I'm certain that in a wide-open eye test if the same headphone amp says Made in China the sound were certainly be a lot worse than the same amp with Made in USA or Made in England carved on it. biggrin.gif
BTW, there's an interesting topic here in ST that somehow describe what 'im trying to say, please go to Believing is Hearing.

I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I spent $400 on The V.A.L. E10 thinking it was a decent buy, and ended up with a piece of crap. Was out the money for shipping both ways, and generally dissatisfied with the entire transaction. Besides the debate here was where the Woo is made. I tried a Chinese amp and got burned. Never again! I have not read a single post of people being really dissatisfied with any of his products. I can show you pages of people who bought amps from China, and have very similar stories as mine. Generally the quality just isn't there. It's a bit of a crap shoot. I took a shot, and I lost. I won't make the same mistake twice.

In these global days of global economy i wonder WHAT IS NOT made in China, Singapure, Malasya, Indonesia...except WooAudio, of course. biggrin.gif
Our fellow member JP put an interesting link about Chineese Audio Produts in a speaker topic the other day and it says something that you should take a good look at Chinese manufacturers impress audiophiles with quality products. wink.gif
