Mini- Review:
If you are not a die hard country fan, but like well played, well written and often funny music, Lyle Lovett is a guy to check out.
While I am not a hardcore C'N'W fan, I have grown to appreciate the great talents in the field, both instrumentally and in lyrics. Lyle is a funny guy, and this comes through in several of his songs, like "Don't Touch my Hat" "One Eyed Fiona" and "You're not From Texas"
He can also get to the listener on a much deeper level, and the last couple songs on the disc do this. The title track is my favorite-play it loud!....and then wait about 1:50 past the end of track 12, and you will hear the un-named track 13. Sounds a bit autobiographical, so perhaps it was too personal to name, who knows. Three guesses who the girl in the songs is...
Overall it is an album worth having, even if you don't always listen to it all the way through.
