Since I had to be out taking care of biz last Friday, decided to do a little looking. Stopped at a garage sale and saw the Pioneer in the driveway. It was marked $20. Looked around and all I saw was an older BSR all-in-one. Found a basket of electronic and photo components that I was told I could have for a $1 soundt/banana.gif. Asked about any audio equipment or books but all that was avaiable was the CP. As I was looking at it again seller said, "it's marked $20 but you can have it for $5." Plugged it in and it worked perfectly and is in mint condition. How could I resist. rolleyes.gif Rather cool six cassette changer. Fun to play with.

I've seen those cassette changers before. The ones I've seen remind me of an overgrown photo slide projector.

Pretty fun.

How does it sound?

Pic of the new toy. For what it is, it sounds very good and I'm pleased enough to try and find a spot for it. Discovering its features. Found I can open the door and change out cassettes while one is playing. smile.gif

Hey Folks. I have just integrated this cassette player into my home theater. It's sounding really good. The pre-amp I own has a feature that bypasses all the digital circuitry. Though it's not the analog sound of old, it's doing the job remarkably well.

Anyway, does anyone have any idea what size the CD Synchro cord is?

Appreciate the help.

"CD-DECK SYNCHRO" is a PIONEER original feature introduced in 1989 for their cassette deck and CDP lines. it allows the two linked components, CDP and cassette deck, to synchronize with one another and precisely synchronize and fully automate cassette recordings from CD...

with a six-disc CD changer...

and a six-cassette changer deck...

you could hit one button, and let the components go to work on their own, automatically recording the contents of six CDs onto six cassettes...

Macgyver, I realize that. But nothing will synchronize without the cord. Over the years, with all the moving, I've lost the cord. Do you know what size it is? (It's tiny.)

I've got a PD-M59 CD player along with this cassette deck. But with no cord there's no CD Synchro. (I'm kicking myself for losing this thing.)

i do not know, as i don't own any CD-DECK SYNCHRO capable components. i'd like to say it's the standard mini-phone, but PIONEER did in fact an even smaller version of the mini-phone on the receiver/amp connection cable for my MR-100 MULTI-ROOM IR sensor, so it might be one of those. an idea; take a pair of headphones with a minijack and try to plug it in to the CD-DECK SYNCHRO port. if it fits, you're in business. race down to the local rat shack and get one of their mini-phone patch cables. they have jacks on either end, and come in stereo or mono. it does not matter which one you get, they'll both translate the control signals just fine...

MacGyver,

I tried using a headphone mini jack and it's too big. It fit perfectly into the IR jacks but the Syncro jack is even smaller. (In fact, in my rack, it was hard to see. With the age of my eyes and all. blink.gif )

It's OK though. It's really not a feature I'll be using much. The only thing I'm trying to do is prove that everything still works. I used it a LOT back in the early 90's for taping music as gifts and the CD Syncro feature came in quite handy.

I'd like to mention that since I've hooked this deck back up I've re-discovered all my old blues tapes. And for this reason alone I am eternally grateful. They still sound great. Listening to tapes is probably all it's going to be used for. If I ever find the size of this cord / cable, I'll post and let everyone know.

Thanks for the help.

I have an odd Sony FM Walkman. Very small with an armband. The headphone jack is smaller than the norm. If I get the time I'll take in to a local parts store and see if they have a match.
