Well I'm a little shamed as a photographer with this pic but all my lenses are getting a factory cleaning so heres my crappy camera phone again.

I'm so impressed with these speakers I wanted to share the setup they are in. These are my first x-over less speakers and I think the combo with the SET power is really working well. I now have Steve Deckert's speakers and Step-up transformer in the mix and damn it sounds good. I have thrown everything from rap to jazz to rock and classical and I'm impressed. Anyone else own these? I'd love to here some other thoughts or ideas on placement. Right now they are pretty much close to the Cardas ratio if I remember correct. Around 2' 9" from the side wall and 4' 9" from the rear wall. That puts them around 7' 10" apart and I'm siting around 9 feet away.

Well back to listening. Ill report back later as I have till Tuesday off!

The Alons are for sale. I dropped these speakers in my main setup and they are still there.biggrin.gif
I got a chance the last week to go back to my horns then I put the Decwares in front for a quick listen. They are way out from the front wall maybe 5 feet and I towed them in from the original placement which was close to head on. I listened without the subs I had before. They sound GOOD. I added a 12" sub (not seen) in the right rear corner xd-over around 50 and that was the ticket. Im really impressed with these speakers.

Very attractive looking setup... Is that a VPI TNT I see looming in the background
(he he I know it is!) biggrin.gif
what arm and base are you using? Any VPI produced tweaks in there, like Valhalla wire or the Anti Skate attachment? The cartr. is not so important to me, as this is the perpetual argument of Moving Coil vs Magnet.

As for the Cardas setup. I used it for the longest time, though sacrificed bottom end by a lot. I got rid of the Big Screen 53" RPTV and now added a Panasonic 50" Plasma on a shorter equipment stand which holds all of the Video gear. This has allowed me to move the speakers back toward the rear wall about 18". Due to my odd shaped room; a combination of different sized rectangles with the speakers firing into the long end of the room against some reflective surface surfaces compounded by a short 7.5ft ceiling. The bass is not as potent as it should be. I have bigtime bass suckouts and room nodes because of it. the best I could hope for is to diminish some of the nodes with prudent use of room tunes et al. dry.gif

After:

I can't imagine using horns in a room as narrow as yours and more confounding double Subs! soundt/confused-smiley-013.gif

My best imaging is with Ls3/5a ojn stands using a passive woofer x'd over at 100hz. My Thiels don't image as well.
