I have a Van Den Hull "The First" carbon-fibre digital interconnect cable.
I was wondering if any of you guys with outboard DACs would like to give it a try. I´ll ship worldwide, of course. Jorge |

That´s fine with me. Do you recall what other ST members have separate DAC´s? Crooner is the only other member who comes to mind, right now. Jorge |

Larry,
Being the coordinator here, how long you think we must wait for replies before we start shipping the goodies to others? Jorge |

Put me in line after Scott.
I'm mulling over what DAC to get (I've none yet), so until I have one, it's useless for me. I'd love t hear it, however. Just later on. -------------------- What you got back home, lil' sister, to play yer fuzzy warbles on? Pitiful, portable picnic players? Come with uncle & hear all proper! I'd ship immediately if you want. I would be nice if people in close proximity would chime in early so each person can ship to the closest and save on freight. Since yours are coming from Portugal and it will take longer, it will give people a chance to get lined up according to location. -------------------- IN ORDER TO BE OLD AND WISE, YOU MUST FIRST BE YOUNG AND STUPID

Ok.
Scott, I think this is something you wanted to avoid, but it seems you´ll have to let me know your adress. Please PM it to me. Jorge |

Scott if you receive cables to be added to the little traveling collection just hold them a week or so and then send what ever you have down to me. If a cable like the digital one Jorge is sending is in the box and the person receiving the box doesn't have a way to use it it can just go along for the ride it won't hurt nor will it weigh enough to change the cost of shipping.
I have been thinking about reusable shipping boxes that could easy hold a 1/2 dozen different pair and not weigh much itself. I'll handle that end of this. Once the cables are collected. Mark W. OR if you guys want to mail directly to me just send me a PM I'll shoot you my snail mail address. |

sounds like a good idea. Jorge, maybe you should send the Van Den Hul to Mark first?

Yeah, Mark W. has sent me his adress. I was supposed to ship the IC to him today, but I just couldn´t find the time to do a little escapade to the Post-Office in time. I´ll do it tomorrow, hopefully. Jorge |

Jorge thae cable arrived in good shape today.
I have a question but before I ask it I want people to understand I have a lot of experience with many varied hobbies. This at times has lead me to know things about one hobby based on another. One of my hobbies is Hot rodding cars. this includes very high performance ignition systems. To include making my own spark plug wires from bulk materials many times. OK that said. Jorge the instant I touched this interconnect it felt familiar. Then when I read the lettering stamped on it's side about being Metal and Halogen free. It hit me. this feels just like a piece of graphite spark plug wire. Even the texture of the fiberglass weave under the silicone outer jacket feels just like a number of varieties of RFI Suppression plug wires. Now I'm not saying this interconnect is a spark plug wire only that it feels and looks like one. The question of 2 conductors is something that would be not normal for a Plug wire. But many wires are made with a graphite fiber core using no metal. Since I don't have any digital to digital connections in my system I could use this cable in I guess this is the extent of the review I can give for it. This page will at the vary bottom show the type of plug wire I am talking about. http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/sparkplugs/Wire_Summary.pdf the series 3000 stuff. In fact now that I look at the Van Den Hul page for this type of cable it's construction looks exactly like a carbon or graphite core spark plug wire. http://www.vandenhul.com/cable/frst-uL.jpg Not sure what to make of that but I can tell you this fancy spark plug wire is but .85 a foot. |
