Running a PS Audio Superlink II right now. Love it.

Also an Entech Number Cruncher. Love it too.

But it's not physically working in my setup. Hard to stack, and the external power supply is something I need to watch running over in the wheelchair.

With any luck, I'm going to try out a Parasound D/AC 1000.

Also going to try out an EAD.

Possibly an Adcom GDA 600.

Plan is to end up with three DACs- one for each of my systems. Actual case size is important- the Musical Fidelity tube-shaped X-act DAC is out, as well as the smaller units from California Audio Labs and Audio Alchemy.

The Entech is a treat indeed, and would stay, if not for that curved top making it impossible to put under things, and my fear of damaging the power supply. The sound of the Entech is just fine. No complaints.

Nothing's set in stone, some horse trading and the like.

I'll keep you posted.

I highly recommend the Adcom GDA-600, especially to anyone on a budget. While I haven't done a full all out A/B test, basic comparisons between my PS Audio Ultralink Two and Adcom GDA-600 indicate there is not much difference, if any, between them. Given that the PS Audio (~$450) tends to go for about three times what the Adcom (~$150) can be found for, the Adcom can truly be considered a great value.

If you were close to the Atlanta area I would let you audition my GDA-600. However, even without an audition I don't think you would be wasting any money if you picked one up.

With any luck, the EAD and the Parasound will be here by Friday.

Haven't decided if I'll swap the Entech outright for the Adcom 600, or just sell it off, or keep it.

Looking forward to trying out the EAD and Parasound, though.

It's the 1000 series II.

I only need three of 'em, so deciding on where the fourth will end up.

I am looking forward to trying 'em out!

I've got the PS Audio I like, and the Parasound looks like it may be quite a performer as well.

I was eyeballing Theta dacs as well, but they were all out of my price range.

Well, my buddy really wanted to try out the Entech, so I will be swapping it for his Adcom.

Should see that sometime later next week.

Good question. Well I certainly try to get a lot of different ones to try in my system. I also like to compare them with different kinds of music. I think some of them will be sold again after I decide which ones I would like to keep. So I am not a collector on the long run biggrin.gif

How about making a small review of the dacs you own here at ST? wink.gif

And if anyone else was near Atlanta we could maybe get together for a larger shootout. I could bring my PS Audio Ultralink Two, Adcom GDA-600, Adcom GCD-750 CD Player, and Sony 75ES DAT Deck, the later two of which can be used as a DAC via their digital inputs.

Nice gear.

I'd love to compare my PS Audio Superlink Two to your PS Audio Ultralink Two.

I look forward to the Adcom GDA-600 to see how hot it performs. Well regarded, but some folk claim a bit less pizzazz than the Entech. I dunno..

I had the Sony 75ES DAT Deck myself- didn't give it a spin though- sold it with my sudden loss of storage.

It'd be nice to know what I missed out on- or didn't miss out on. soundt/confused-smiley-013.gif

Yes, I can do that of course. Are there any request on which one I will compare first. I will be comparing them with the EAD DAC I own, because I regard that one as my reference until now. Although I did not have time to test/compare the Wadia DAC yet, and I have some expectations about it.

I'm pulling for the PS Audio.

A friend has a friend who's a well-respected DAC builder, and says the PS Audio edges out the EAD a tiny bit. This would be true for the Ultralink, but I feel the Superlink is just a wink or two below it.

By the way, the Parasound arrived today. Very heavy, with those triple power supplies inside.
