What do you use to clean top loading cdps? Would compressed air work?

I use compressed air- but be careful- if it comes out as a cold blast directly on the unit, it can cause issues- the cold compressed air is cold enough to crack plastic and glass.
Stores sell eyeglass cleaning kits too- the soft rags are good. Also, a small photograph negative brush will work. A rubber soft squeeze disc with a very short tube and soft bristles at the end. Used for cleaning film negatives. CDs can be bought, with a built-in soft brush. Load them in, hit play, and as they rotate, they sweep over the lens. That's worked for me as well. Some cleaners are rumored to "tint" or damage the laser lens of some units- poly-carbonate, to be specific. -------------------- What you got back home, lil' sister, to play yer fuzzy warbles on? Normally i clean my cds with an eyeglass cleaning spray and a soft velvet brush. Today i tried PRF from Taerosol, an antistatic spray and i'd notice some improvment in some sonic freqs...could be placebo...but, i think static is very bad for any record, vinyl or plastic.
Do you guys use any antistatic for cleaning records? -------------------- ![]() " Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be measured " Albert Einstein![]() |
