I turned my Scott on with only one speaker hooked up! Now what? Where do I start, I know little or nothing on this other than it is a bad thing. What do I need to check, I do have the schematic, for what I damaged?

Now after my mistake, I only get sound out of one channel and it is pretty fuzzy, the other channel onthing and one tube is not glowing, I haven't checked it yet but I suspect it is bad. I am not sure what other damage might have occured, I have read some things that leads me to believe I may have caused some major damage. soundt/confused-smiley-013.gif

I am going to read your link now.

I get an error message. soundt/confused-smiley-013.gif

Thanks

Jim

Any smoke when you turned it on? That is a common problem with vintage tube gear (and new gear not designed to handle this common mistake), no load, pop some caps and/or resistors. Are you a tech (assumiong no, since you are asking here what to do)?. Do you know how to discharge capacitors before going inside to poke around? If not don't, lethal charges can be stored in the caps for days. If inside can you see/smell any burnt parts?

I'd keep it powered off until a tech can look at it, more damage can be caused since protective fuses don't seem to be shutting the unit down.

Definately not a Tech.

The unit has been turned off for a month, what I noticed before shutting it off when the mistake occured was one tube glowing very brightly.

This amp was manufactured in 1958, they didn't use much protection then.
