I'd made a few mods in my S-Tamp here's some pics:

Elna, Nichicon Muse and Nichicon Gold in parallel:

Input caps from Elna (of course) and Panasonics plus an heatsink for the Tripath chip.

Is that the Sonic Super T? I wonder why it's been discontinued?

because they must be studying clints mods and going to incorporate them in a new model.

Btw, Sonic Super T as been discontinued, but there's still a lot of Tripath based amps on the market. smile.gif

I forgot to mention an important issue here.
Because of this rumbling mod upgrading mostly in my Nad cdp, i've learned a lot of stuff myself. smile.gif
For instance, i can say now and for sure that without screw the cdp caracteristics and "personality" - i'm not a diy freak biggrin.gif - i can change the sound of any cdp for a lot better with 10 caps in the right place and of course with right values. rolleyes.gif

are you taking any orders?

i'm wondering if sending you only the required circuit boards for you to upgrade is a viable option ...

Clint, I know I can still get a Super T amp for under $150. Are you familiar with any other ones that can match its performance at that price?

i also have a Trends Audio TA-10.1 that sounds better to my ears. it goes for about the same price as the Super T.

that of course is the stock versions of both. i've never heard a modded Super T or Trends Audio so i cant comment on those. i would be willing to bet that Alvaro's modded Super T will out perform the stock Trends Audio.

I concur with you again, Scott. My Super T has indeed a great sound. Mainly because of caps' quality i had the chance to put on this baby.

The input filtering caps are Panasonic FC's and normal Elna in parallel; the others are Nichicon Gold and bipolar Nichicon Muse. Great audio caps.
BTW, there's a big difference in sonic terms, between normal caps and audio caps. Sometimes the issue here is to find good audio caps. Only a a few sites on the net sell them in small quantities. sad.gif Another way to find them is on broken or busted audio or computer gear. smile.gif)
I find out that old Marantz and Sony busted gear have great caps... biggrin.gif You guys in America can find these busted units - that nobody wants - very easy and almost for free and took (desoldering) some of best caps from them...just an idea. biggrin.gif

I bought yesterday for 5€ a used power suply 220AC/15DC from a guy who had some busted parts from a lot of old audio and video gear all pilled out in his repair shop.
Is made by Nichicon - imo from an old Sony unit, from the late 80's or 90's. Today i will mesure it and than i'll try it out in my Super T.

Later i'll post some pics.
