I have a chance to trade some old film camera gear that I have (Minolta X-700, 2 lenses, and accessories) for a Kenwood KA-3700 integrated amp. Do any of you guys know much about this piece of equipment?
I am attaching a pic of the KA-3700 from the web. I am awaiting a pic of the one I would actually be getting. BTW, this is the camera gear I would be trading.
I am not a true vintage audio guy, so all comments are welcome as to whether this is worth it. I did some research on the camera bits and I think the absolute best I could get on Ebay would be around $170, but that would assume each piece sells for near top dollar. $120 is probably more realistic, minus all of the Ebay/PayPal fees.
The camera gear has been in the closet for the last seven years or so, and now that I recently bought a Canon 40D I am sure it will never be used by me again. Worst case scenario for the Kenwood would be that I pair it with my Polk Audio Monitor 5jrs and a CD player and use it in the garage/basement/bedroom (well I doubt the wife will go for that last one). I was just wondering if any of you had any experiences with this Kenwood that you could share. I know NOTHING about cameras (just like audio stuff), but it looks like a lot more than $150 worth of lenses to me.

I don´t know about your Minolta lenses, but my Pentax bayonnet type lenses fit modern digital Pentax SLR´s. I have 3 lenses ( 28 - 80 mm, 70 - 210 mm, and fixed 500 mm. ) on hold untill I can afford a modern camera for them.
I am sure I would not trade them for that kenwood. |

Thanks guys. I have decided not to go for it. After seeing some pics of the actual amp I would be getting I immediately knew it was a no-go. Looks like I will just sell the stuff on EBay.
BTW, the Minolta mount changed when they switched to auto-focus in the early 90's. From was I gather the X-700 was the last and best of the manual-focus Minoltas. Thanks again.
