Not a huge fan of either, but to cut down on weight gain and health concerns, I've been partaking in these.

Last night was an organic veggie/soy burger.

Had the taste of watered down eggs (soy) and school lunch mixed veggies.

The texture was the same- but the eggs scrambled, the veggies pre-chewed.

However, I'll move on to Boca and North Star brands next- much closer to "meat" than this disaster was....

With an opening like that Scott you are so lucky I can barely keep my eyes open after paving on the freeway all night other wise you'd be getting some pretty well thought out smart ass remark about your Gum comment LOL

They aren't gonna measure up to a great chunk o' ground round, but I've had some respectable soyburgers. The only meat I ate for about 7 years was seafood, because I needed a respectable source of protein, and wasn't going to either ruin my health or resort strictly to tofu. I will eat tofu, I just don't choose to.

So I had more than a few of them. The thing to remember about meat: Unless it's a filet mignon or porterhouse, we eat it for all of the condiments and toppings. Otherwise, everyone would go into Burger King and say, "I'll have it plain."
Dry is actually the word. Blech.

Keep experimenting, Paul.

We (wife and I) are vegetarians... well, let me be honest, she is and I can't bear to go without seafood. Anyway, she is always in search of the best vegie-burger and we have found the best pattie to be good ol' "bubble and squeak". I think that's a pommie dish, chucked together from left-over vegies, usually potato, corn, carrot, peas and then made in to a pattie and fried. You can even buy it in the supermarket.

delihaus... if you want to lose the weight, don't drop the meat, drop the buns. I lost 12kg in two months last year by knocking back the bread, pasta and potatoes for a while. Now I am a little more cautious of the intake of carbs and the weight is staying off wink.gif
