Golly, I almost expect to find a Marantz everytime I go out. I picked up a 2220 today! The 2220 is cap coupled and does not have a relay so I took a bit of a flyer with this one. During testing, I got static which is sometimes OK but still risky. Oh well, I've had such good luck lately, I decided to go for it.

Got the 2220 home and the inside was caked in dust. I took off the covers and brushed and applied compressed air. I also gave the controls a bath. Luckily, the amp works great. I had to re-apply de-ox several times to clear the controls but there is no electronic issues with the amp and that is good.

There is something about cap-coupled little Marantz's that is truly magical. I played Natalie Cole "Unforgettable" and the sound is warm and engaging. You are not going to get 100 dB from this little gem but that is not how you enjoy the 2220. Set to low-medium level and let the "Three-Martini" sound take over.
