the other two audio forums i have participated in in my short history in internet forum life have active "Show Us your Systems!" threads. i noticed that ST here actually lacked one, so if no one minds, i'll help myself to getting ST's first one going. as the OP of the thread, we'll naturally start with my own, as of 12-07-2008:

Very nice system Mac. I'm guessing from the fact that you're system is set up in your bedroom that you're living with your parents?

hello, Mark! you might remember me as "Lady Ayeka" from AUDIOKARMA. i remember you from my tenure there; that YAMAHA guy with the collection of 1987 centennial anniversary edition components! indeed, i live with my mother, younger sister, and her boyfriend/soon to be hubby, i am unable to work due to the complex health issue that almost killed me back in 2003. it was CHROHN's/COLITIS, an intestinal disorder. it was basically cured when i had fully half my intestinal tract (that much of it was diseased) removed in mid-2003. my mother got me the PIONEER VSX-D1S i had wanted so badly for over a year the day i was released from the hospital, at a local used Hi-Fi shop. that was my first ever serious audio component, and the start of my gradual climb-up to the excellent system i currently have. the disease left me with side-effects: a re-route of my intestines from the rectum, which is now sealed, to the front of my abdomen, terminating in a disposable colostomy bag. there are other occasional, unpredictable side-effects that can seriously affect my daily health at times. as such, i am effectively disabled, and in the final stages of securing social security for myself. i have had a difficult life, but i have made myself a passionate Audiophile/Gearhead in the mean, and found it to be the true destiny that i was born for!! smile.gif

Nice addition to your very nice Pioneer collection. It's definitely the little brother of the superb PD-91.

thank you! and it actually has a suprisingly similar warmish and detailed tonal character like the 91!! definitely miles above the atypical CD changer sound...

thanks, mark! the PD-3000/91 is my baby. and i hope to someday soon get the actual 3000 chassis serviced. until then, it will remain a hybrid; a PD-91 in PD-3000 livery. minty front bezel, SOLID steel isolator for the rear-mounted transformer cradle, epoxy resin filled main isolator feet, solid aluminum top panel with foam sheet lining the underside, and dampening material in several places: rubber pads, foam pads, and white wadding sheet, placed in strategic places. a TRUE reference CDP...

a nice morning shot of the main audio rack, as of 4/14/09. with the recent repacement of the CT-W910R dual-well cassette deck, with a TOTL CT-S800 reference superdeck, i now deem it to be complete. as such, you will most likely never be seeing another change to the gear complement on this rack...
