Just got a set of these and got a chance to listen to them this morning. interesting speaker. I like it. Seemed kinda bright at first and they are with the horn loaded tweeter but the more I listen the more i like and the clarity is very good. Well worth considering if you see a set of the E line. E stands for efficient and these are. Heavy with nice veneer cabs, all cast aluminum driver baskets, even machined aluminum control knobs. Read these were supposed to be JBL like west cost type offerings (a departure for Wharfedale) and I have to admit they do sound similar to my JBL L100's I'll do a side by side comparison some day soon.

Howdy, Super (sounds cooler than "Fly" tho that is kinda.. fly.
I'm listening to Dixie Dregs vinyl on my E30s now. They are just like yours,
only they have stacked 8-inchers, including the mid. I picked them up about 5 months ago for 30 dollars and have been switching between them and the Polk Monitor 7s. The Wharfedales can be a bit bright, but they are SO detailed.

I find if I don't get carried away with the volume, and keep it lower than about 10 o'clock on my amp-preamp setup (hafler transnova 150w-PS Audio pre also set to 10 o'clock), they sound fabulous. Once you start pushing them, even with the adjustable treble on the speakers, they can harsh on you. I have a JBL powered sub to augment the lower end. I'm going to sell off a lot of my gear, but the Wharfedales are keepers. They tend to make me smile, even with music I have heard dozens of times.

Looking forward to hearing you impressions vis a vis the JBL L100s.

There has been a set of E30's here on a classified for months. He wants $80 and I keep offering him less, no go. I'm going to restore these to 100% working condition as cosmetically that are in very good condition. Funky enough speaker to keep. You are right about the clarity, makes a lot of other speakers seem dull. These prefer lower volume as well and other than being bright are pretty balanced.
