this is my current cassette deck, and what i believe to be the very best dual deck ever made. it is capable of breathtaking REC/PLAYBACK, and is, IMO, fully able to use the TDK MA-XG to it's fullest. a fourteen pound tank (by 1989 dual deck standards, at least) with a cast-iron enclosed transformer, elaborate discrete circuitry, and the best possible transport mecha available in a dual deck, with cast-aluminum flywheels, pure, oxygen free copper wiring, and a PIONEER original "TAPE STABILIZER" system that firmly clamps the cassette in place, and damps resonances. while a CT-S800 is my ultimate goal in a cassette deck, i could very happily live with this baby forever...

I bought my teac w-990rx because it was supposed to be one of the best dual decks going. I bought it in 1988 and was reviewed as the best, so there, just kidding. if I would have had the money I would have bought a single deck because they just a little better.

I do like the looks of the pioneer though. I bet it sounds good to.

wow, not a bad deck! remote control and everything! the CT-W910R is fully remote controllable via the PIONEER SR daisy-chain system, but it lacks a dedicated remote and built-in IR sensor. i still prefer it though. i noticed that there is a wood-paneled version of the W-990RX. is that your version?

also, this CT-W910R is actually based off the T-700WR, a 1987 JPN market model. that version actually HAS a dedicated remote and IR sensor. weird, huh?

ya, it came with the wood side panels, but I left them in a box in the garage and they got kinda chewed up. they were sweet looking with the panels on there.
