While clearing out a box of old documents and pictures I came across these pictures of my system from probably early 1991. Pictured from top to bottom are...

ADC SoundShaper SS-525X Equalizer (died)
Sony DTC-75ES DAT Deck (still own, but not in use)
Sony TC-K850ES Cassette Deck (still own, but not in use)
Carver TL-3220 CD Player (still own, but not in use)
Carver CT-Seven Preamp/Tuner (still own, but not in use)
Carver M1.0t Power Amp (died)
Carver M1.5t Power Amp (died)

Speakers are Polk Audio SDA 1C (sold to finance my Infinity RS 9 Kappas)

The M1.5t was not in use at this point, but I had purchased it planning ahead for the 9 Kappas, and bi-amping.

Honestly, I was more into the gear at this time than the music, and really didn't take the time to truly appreciate this system. I would love to have the chance to compare it head to head with my current gear. While I believe my current system would be superior, a comparison would be fun.

well then, it looks like you need to start to re-acquire all those fine vintage sentimental pieces and give us your impressions.

Sounds like a plan!!! Let me go tell my wife... uhhh, wait a minute soundt/shh.gif

Actually, if ever run across a really good deal on any of these pieces I would definitely grab 'em. Not quite the same as having the original pieces I once owned, but would still give me that warm fuzzy feeling.

ya, thats kinda what I was implying, I am sure I wouldnt go out and get my original system and pay top dollar for it, but if I saw a component cheap, yeah in a minute, and if I was married then I would have to hide it in the garage until the appropriate time. um probably divorce meetings smile.gif ha!

that was a nice rig. my first system wouldnt hold up in comparison to my current setup, but it had its own magic that i remember quite fondly.

How did you like that ADC EQ?
I have a sound shaper ss-300sl that I like a lot - I can only imagine the higher number ones are even nicer?

It was a decent piece. Not bad, but not great either. The display is pure eye candy, no doubt. However, the EQ did introduce a little bit of backgroud noise/hiss to the signal, which many EQs do. I felt that the pink noise generator and supplied mic where totally useless as a room calibration aid. Would I buy one again if one came available? Yes, but not for a system assembled for absolute sound quality.
