I like to play a lot with some of those toys..... smile.gif

Are those LS3/5a similar to Harbeth's and Stirling's LS3/5a? Rogers' clones with Kef drivers??

Completely new drivers, captures the sound of the originals, but a little bigger sounding, same midrange magic and disappearing act. Will be doing some studio testing very soon with them, that is their intent. The rogers never really caught on here as studio monitors, always did well as home speakers here though.

Just fired up the Compact Rears and was blown away, fresh out of the box you can hear the quality and I've never seen such a beautiful speaker. I heard the Front's and they impressed me plenty enough to go with the whole set. btw, listening with the 6 channel class A amp.

Too bad you aren't close by.

Cheers,
Ian

Been thru the speakers and the A-206 amp and the 'hornies' as I will likely keep referring to them are by far my favourite, even over my own RBS-1. I think I may have found my own personal nirvana of speaker sound and I actually turned the big hornies off after about 15 minutes, knowing I wasn't going to get any work done.

My test CD's first track is Holly Cole's Jersey Girl which of course I've listened to a million times for testing purposes and just before she breaks into the first verse I hear a breathing moan, mmm that was basically right in my ear, freaked me out a bit. I had never even heard that moan before, now I'm listen for it and can tell it's there on other speakers, but not like on the big horny. As I said I turned it off, too much work to do.

Will be building TT's today smile.gif, of course sold out of Phono Stages and our new tube prototype (in a B-283 box) is still at the factory. $10k+ worth of tables and no phono stage !! For those of you that have followed my attempts at getting a TT up and running, figures eh!

Cheers,
Ian
