So, I was the first to answer an ad and picked up a new set up consisting of: Luxman R-113 receiver, Denon DCD-900 cdp, BSR EQ3000 equaliser and EPI 1200 speakers. All the components came in their original boxes, packing and manuals. Tons of speaker wire and the interconnects are "gold" plated. Everything is near mint but the woofers do need foam. And... al free soundt/bluebanana.gif ! I was told that there was a problem getting anything other than cd straight from the receiver as everything had to go through the equaliser. As it turns out Luxman provided a dedicated circuit for an equaliser or remote add it has an on/off switch. Turned it off and, voila! Hooked the R-113 and cd up to a set of Minimus 7 and auditioned. Sort of mid-fi from the '80s but the sound was as nice as most anything in the 35wpc class. Figure I'll let the speakers go but deciding whether or not to refoam first.

Free! Another great score!! The R-113 is not bad but not great either. About the only good thing is the remote control is compatible with the R-117. The BSR-3000 eq has a pink noise generator, which is useful for setting levels with my sound meter.

I got the R-115 at a junk shop (you have no idea--but he actually moved into a place that has light AND the ceiling doesn't leak), and I liked it a lot. However, it's in my needs some TLC group pile right now. Needs to be cleaned thoroughly.

And my first equalizer was one of those BSRs. It's been so long since I used an EQ, I should probably drag one out and hook it up, just for grins.

I have an R-113 but was so unimpressed with it that I all-but-gave it away. It got a little abused, and is now available as a free parts unit for anyone who wants to pay shipping. I opened it up once to clean the switches and could hear my voice echo inside the empty cabinet. The tuner section seemed very good, in all fairness though.
