Saw an ad estate sale ad with "records and stereo," so I went for a drive. Had to pick up some free Earth Day mulch at the start then down the boulevard and over the hill I went. Sony All-In-One, Maggie console and a heck of a lot of Christmas albums. Bummer soundt/pirate.gif . On the way back I decided to hit a couple thrifts. As I was going to the second one I saw a garage sale sign. It was for two days but I kept driving. Well, usually if it's for two days there's a lot of stuff so I pulled a U-turn. Didn't look like much but as I walked up to the garage I saw a bookshelf filled with albums. Nothing I needed so I asked if there was any stereo equipment. "A couple turntables but I think my wife wants to keep them." Asked if I could take a look. Saw the sides of a R2R next to a tt. Looked at the the tt, Pioneer PL-512 with a Shure V15 III blink.gif ! Then I saw a receiver under the workbench. Long story short wife said it was okay to sell it all. Sansui 8080, Pioneer PL-512, Sony PS 3300 DD TT with Shure 500S, Teac A2000R R2R. Had me make an offer. So I said $40. I think he was surprised I said that much smile.gif . Need to be cleaned up and lubed. Only one light works on Sui but that may be due to dirty contacts. Broken antennae mount and peeling vinyl. Sony is speed is dead on and belt did not go to boogers on Pioneer. Got all the cables Teac manuals and an Apex 631 tape. Maybe I did overpay rolleyes.gif . Here's a quick pic.

Nice finds.
I don't know the differences between the Teac A-2000R and the X-2000R but the guys at audioscope are selling the X-2000R for more than 2.000,00€..... blink.gif
Congrats. soundt/thumbup.gif BTW, here's an interesting site about reels: http://reeltoreelworld.blogspot.com/2008/0...ac-x-2000r.html and some A-2000R pics: http://www.awardaudio.com/R2Rpictures/Teac-A2000/index.htm wink.gif

What can I say, it was late, I was hot and tired, it was a little dark in the garage and I thought it was a 9090 rolleyes.gif . Won't complain, as last week I sold a $13 piece of office equipment I found in the electronics area for $200 blink.gif . I did set up the Sui. Surprisingly the pots were as quiet as could be. Tuner seems a little touchy but the sound is excellent. Went ahead and popped her open anyway. A little dusty. Checked a couple lamps and they were fine so there must be a problem in the lighting circuit. IIRC there is way to bypass it and keep the lights on continuously.

Alvaro, the A-2000 is an earlier model and lacks a number of the X's bells and whistles. It sounds fine in fwd but not right in rev. Heavy as heck because there is a cast aluminum skeleton framework inside. Checking out your links. soundt/thumbup.gif

Well, soundt/doh.gif . Having finally sold a couple pieces I started moving things around to fill in the empty spots. Came across a cardboard box. When I opened it I found another A2000r and a pair of metal Maxell and Scotch reels inside blink.gif . I can't really recall when I bought it it or what I paid but it may have been some three years ago around the time I picked up my first Revox A-77. Good thing I finally took a friends advice and started recording purchases (didn't prevent me from accidentally buying another Kenwood 9940). So now I have two Revox A-77, two Akai GX-77, two Teac A2000R and Pioneer RT 701 and 707. I think I may have a problem soundt/lolnuts.gif .
