That's a really bad story.
The PL-90 is not in use at this time.
I recently bought it in ebay USA, last week it arrived and while unpackung
i saw the seller had not removed the counterweight for transportation.
Usually the packages are not treated with care and so the axle where
the counterweight is mounted was brocken away.

Now i had to demount the tonearm completely into parts to reach the place
where the axle usually is attached to the base to figure out how to fix it.
Two parts of brass are bonded with vulcanized rubber ( to eliminate vibrations),
and the rubber bonding is ruptured.

That was my saturday job and now i have to repair this connection true o the original.
I can do that at work, but i have to hurry, there are only two days left
before i go into retirement on friday.
THANK GOD soundt/jump.gif

damn, that's sad to hear. i'm sure there is a way to effectively fix it. BTW, is the PL-90 tonearm a P-MOUNT, or the standard four lead type?

since the beautiful PL-90 is so rare and expensive, there is a fair chance that sometime in the future i'll be getting a copy of it's japanese equivilant, the PL-7L;

i much prefer the rosewood finish of the PL-90, but with the price, high desirablity and rarity of the 90 rallying against me, the 7L is likely the closest i'll ever get. it can be had for around $400, as opposed to $1000/$2000+ that the PL-90 generally commands...

The PL-90 is more beautiful, but the tables are virtually identical otherwise. And if a PL-90 becomes available you can always sell the PL-7L. That's a win-win situation!
