i finished up the last of my classes at community college yesterday. i was also notified that i've been accepted to the University of Washington (Tacoma campus) for the fall. i'm starting to have second thoughts about this entire venture though. i do not look forward to the prospect of another two years of school that will basically do nothing for me. i'll have to acquire a Masters at least in order for it to be of any benefit in becoming a teacher (in this state) so another 4 years is in order. add to that all the budget cuts from education and we have a huge surplus of teachers out of work right now, so it will be difficult to land a teaching position even with stellar credentials.

with things the way they are, i am mulling over my options. i could continue going for a Masters and a teaching certificate, or quit now and see how far an AA degree will get me (basically nowhere), or i could go for a BA in political science and then to law school. the amount of time for staying with school is the same, but future potential for actually being able to use the education is heavily in favor of a law degree. right now i'm giving serious consideration to stopping right now.

um, I hope we are not still in this recession in another 6 years, I think that most of the old teachers will retire, and you will then have a good chance for a job in 6 years.

You have to have a Masters to teach in Washington?

unless there is a shortage of teachers or the school district is granted a waiver, a Masters is the minimum for teaching anywhere above the 8th grade in WA.

I think CA is a lot more lenient than that.

I think the problem is that you like lawa bit more than teaching, and it might be very tedious, but teaching that sort of thing might be fun, I think the word here is conundrum. but I get my words mixed up once in awhile
