Qysonics Saved and Scored

After a road trip, that turned into a debacle, to view some "awesome" amps (a Pioneer SX-850 with a bad relay) and other pieces I returned to the SA to pick up a bookcase (audio rack). As I was walking by the drop-off trailer I saw the top of a speaker back. Climbed in to take a look, and saw the "Qysonic Array" name on the L-Pad. "Five bucks," I jokingly said. "Sold!!!" said the manager . The helper had tossed one grill into the trailer and said it had flown far to the front. He decided to try and look for it and we had almost given up when we saw it and hooked it with a couple golf clubs. Woofers have been redone by O.C. Speaker (not impressed by their work). The foam on the mids are toast. Qysonic used some funky coating on the foams to tune the drivers. Ended up eating the foam. Tweeters are Audax silk domes so they aren't affected. This is my second set of these. First had the same mid prob and the woofers are also redone. This is a pic of the first set but they look the same. Both woofers are active. But ... there is more, Check the threads.

those look like they could sound very good. do the mids just need a refoam?

They sound very good. The original prototype had the tweeter(s?) between the woofers. Forgot how large these are, 46-3/4" tall (didn't look that big in the trailer) and heavy as heck. Good thing they're only 10"x11". Yes, only the mids need foam, but the size, ~4", may be uncommon. Woofers suffer the same fate. Drivers are hard wired but O.C. Speaker put on spade terminals. In order to do they cut a slot in the driver mount.
