What you guys think concerns Sound Thinking orientation or direction ?
I'm asking this because more and more the best sites are the ones who have something very especific.
Some are very good in vintage hi-fi, others in computers hardware and software, others in av surround sound, others in audio electronics, etc...
i'm sure you get to the point now...
What you mods think of this ?!
...because if guys are thinkin to made this site a second- hand AK ... not that's nothing wrong with that...
...and please do not interpertate this in a negative way! smile.gif I still think Ak is the best vintage hi-fi site on the net. I'm not concern about them, i'm only asking a simple question, and nothing more than that.

Well, I´m only speaking for myself, but when JP, Kelly and Scott started this new adventure I think nothing was really planned in advance.

What happened was that JP and Scott were banned from AK for unexplainable reasons, just like some other very good members of AK were being banned every day, for no consistent reason either, Bolly being one of them, and you Clint, another.

So, I´d say that ST started as a reaction to an action, rather than a planned action by itself. biggrin.gif

Reaction to action sometimes ends up in great deeds, it´s just that some times it takes some time for the smoke to settle down, so that one can clearly see the outcome.

In one of my very first posts here at ST I adressed that same question, whether we were to become a second AK. Well, there were no clear answers then, as I believe there still aren´t now, but as Hakka26 said in his post, ST will become of its members make of it.

This Site is still less than 2 months old, and I would say the majority of the members came here to stay, and are great members. We all try to keep an open mind, so it´s hard to say right now where this road will take us, but let me tell you I´m very optimistic. soundt/action-smiley-035.gif

I wonder if AA and AK, for instance had a clearly defined path when they first started, and look at them now.

ST has always been a place where all aproaches to audio enjoyment are welcome.

if anyone would like to see a specific area of interest addressed, please offer your suggestions as they are always welcome.

I'm very happy about this site, and very pleased that JP invite me to become a member of this Sound Thinking way of looking to audio.
When i asked a question like that, it's only for a kind of an introspection and for all of us think a little about what this site is all about.
A reaction to a question. A simple, honest and direct answer from you guys. smile.gif

From the novice:

If you plant a grape vine and tie it to a trellis, it will never be anything but a grapevine on a trellis. It will produce fruit, and you will have your wine.

But if you let it grow on it's own, it may take a slightly different direction that you had origionally planned, but produce a wine fruit that will amaze you! And, if it appears as if it needs the trellis, you can always add one later.............

There are enough "w(h)ine" forums on the web already.

I've only been here two days, but I can say one nice thing is that I don't feel "lost" among a huge population. I know that will change cool.gif !

AA and AK did not grow overnight into what they are, and this forum won't either. Did AK start out with a TV forum? I don't know, but I doubt it. ST will grow as it's members grow and share - all you've got to do is be responsive!

Jam? Jelly? Raisins?
Good to see some conversation. I have posted several pics and comments here that I have already posted elsewhere. I don't feel it is repititious because other sites may not be visited by members and it takes very little effort. soundt/action-smiley-057.gif

The point I was TRYING to make is that if you know exactly where you want it to go, then make it so. Otherwise, let it grow in it's own direction, and shape it when needed. My statement about the grapes is because we have vineyards that are grown both ways - some on wires, and some free standing. They both serve a purpose.

I kinda like the twig in the breeze type of evolution, hard and fast constraints may hamper a lot of good and diiferent contributions from our growing membership.
