Chat is not a function of the Invision Power Board software and requires an external host for the program. I'm looking, but so far each service either requires that I modify the server PHP, which I cannot do being that this is a free forum host, or is dead/nonfunctional.

If I can find suitable chat room code, it will be implemented.

In the meantime, I've created a Shoutbox that should be able to serve duty as a chat room. The link "Shoutbox (Beta)" is at the top of the forum just to the right of "SoundThinking".

Thank you all for being patient. Some of you may have noticed the various iterations of chat having popped up on this forum as I've tested various different programs. I believe I have settled now on a program that appears to offer the main features you chat aficionados may have been looking for.

Feel free to check out our Gabbly powered chat function that'll allow for easy chatting with other visitors to this site while browsing the forums. It'll show a list of names for those in chat and give sounds to indicate the arrival of others.

Just bear in mind, this chat function is not limited to Sound Thinking members nor is it tied into the member database. So, imposters may post under members' names.

Anyone else had any problems with the chat repeatedly resetting? I've had some problems with it the last few nights, perhaps it is the broadband connection? I did however try two different web browsers with the same problem. Any ideas?
